R. Kelly Backtracks After Announcing Tour, Removes Post On Social Media

Singer/songwriter/producer R. Kelly is having an extremely difficult 2019 so far, largely due to the shocking and scathing Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly. The legendary performer has mostly kept a low-profile since the airing of the documentary and the subsequent backlash that ensued from fellow celebrities and fans—but he’s back to business in the form of a new international tour.

After taking to social media, specifically Instagram, for the first time since January 1st, R. Kelly returned with a huge announcement for his overseas fans, as he revealed that he is traveling to Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka with a new tour. The initial post garnered thousands of likes and many of the top comments were in support of Kelly continuing to tour.

However, outside of his personal IG account there was a backlash brewing and many critics were outraged that he was booked anywhere to perform at all…even overseas. Kelly removed the post from his account, but that doesn’t mean that his tour won’t go along as scheduled.

Sure, there has been speculation regarding Australian laws that can prevent someone from entering the country who poses a direct threat and there could be protestors at some locations, but naturally these concerns were probably acknowledged before the tour was actually booked.

At press time, despite his removal of the flier on his Instagram, there has been no official word that the tour has been cancelled.

Do you think R. Kelly should be free to tour internationally? Do you think the tour will go along as scheduled?Let us know in the comments.
