Pharrell Is Accused Of Stealing A Designers Concept & Placing It In His Louis Vuitton Line

A designer is accusing Pharrell Williams of stealing her concept.

Earlier this week, mega producer Pharrell Williams released his Louis Vuitton fashion line in Paris which garnered lots of attention and became a star studded event. Now, Pharrell–who’s the newest creative director of LV– is being accused of stealing.

A designer by the name of Kellie Ford recently took to social media accusing the fashion designer of copying her concept.

Back in 2021, Kellie went viral for her Louis Vuitton shopping bag idea. The concept consisted of Kellie taking a LV shopping back and turning it into a purse. The video was an instant hit and received over 10 million views. Now, the fashion designer says Pharrell stole her concept and placed it in his new Louis Vuitton fashion line.

She told her followers,

“Fast forward to 2023, and under Pharrell’s creative direction for Louis Vuitton they dropped what looks like is the bag. Yeah, its crazy.”

In a later video, Kellie says it’s not about suing, it’s more so the principal of the matter.

She explained,

“It ain’t about suing, it ain’t about infringement.  The thing is they took the concept…The concept is the same. The concept is, the bag being a normal paper bag being worn at leisure. That’s what they did. They took the concept of the bag….It’s the concept, not the actual bag itself. ”

While Kellie received some support from her followers, she also had naysayers doubting her claim.

One person wrote,

“They made a leather version of their own shopping bag. They don’t wrap it in plastic.”

Another said,

“I’m legit not trying to be funny when I ask this… what did they do wrong? They took the shopping bag and made it leather?”

Someone else wrote,

“I remember when she did that!! I was like that is so DOPE!!! Wow that’s crazy.”

Law Roach Says It Was ‘Tough’ For Zendaya Following His Retirement Announcement

Fashion stylist Law Roach shared his star client’s reaction, Zendaya, when he announced his retirement from the world of styling.

During a recent interview, the respected 44-year-old fashion stylist revealed that he hadn’t spoken with his close friend, actress Zendaya, before he took to Instagram to announce his retirement. In fact, Law Roach shared that the “Euphoria” star immediately called him when the news hit.

Zendaya

According to reports, the beloved stylist explained that he serves as part of a “core” four-person team supporting the Emmy-winning actress. Law Roach also said that his decision was “tough for her.” He continued,

“She calls [and] she said, ‘Girl, I thought we’d make big decisions together.’ She, of course, supported me. She’s like, ‘Do you need me to send you on a vacation? Tell me what you’re going through.’ And I, you know, talk to her about just being unhappy for a really long time and still grieving the death of my nephew… And she was like, ‘Whatever you need, whatever you need.’”

Law went into further detail about his decision to retire and reportedly revealed that he was deeply “unhappy” for weeks leading to his announcement. He admitted,

“From the outside looking at our world, it’s like, it’s perfect, right? But it’s made to look perfect. That’s the point. Because the perfection that we give is our way of entertaining everybody who’s paying attention to us. But that’s what it is, it’s entertainment. And over the last, maybe two or three weeks, I realized f**k, I’m miserable.”

Law Roach

While speaking of his personal life, the fashion designer shared that he hasn’t been in a romantic relationship in the near decade he’s been working on his career and hasn’t been able to connect with his friends who “don’t live the same type of lifestyle.” Law added,

“And my business is so big that it’s all I do, it’s all I have. I’ve been miserable and unhappy for a long time. And I’ve been pretending to be perfect.”

As previously reported, Law – who’s best known for his work with Zendaya and has also dressed Megan Thee Stallion, Kerry Washington, Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Priyanka Chopra, Lindsay Lohan and more – took to Instagram on Mar. 14 and announced he is retiring.

Law posted a photo of the word “retired” and wrote,

“My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all.”

The stylist then said the politics of the fashion industry is the driving force behind his decision to quit.

“If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not! The politics , the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win … I’m out.”

Lizzo Questions Victoria’s Secret’s Motive After Retailer Announces Fashion Show Rebrand Following 4-Year Hiatus: ‘Do The CEOs Of These Companies Value True Inclusivity, Or Do They Just Value Money?’

Lizzo recently let some thoughts off her chest in regard to Victoria’s Secret’s attempt at body positivity for the return of their fashion show.

On Sunday (March 5), musical artist Lizzo questioned the controversial lingerie retailer from her official Twitter account, just two days after the company’s chief financial officer announced a “new version” of its famed fashion show would debut in 2023.

Lizzo

As a response to a promotional clip for the brand’s upcoming fashion show, Lizzo, 34, wrote,

“This is a win for inclusivity for inclusivity’s sake. But if brands start doing this only because they’ve received backlash then what happens when the ‘trends’ change again?”

Lizzo

Lizzo, who partnered with Fabletics to create her inclusive shapewear line Yitty, added,

“Do the CEOs of these companies value true inclusivity? Or do they just value money?”

According to reports, Victoria’s Secret is looking to rebrand the former yearly fashion show after a four-year hiatus. A representative for Victoria’s Secret & Co. reportedly said that the company is committed to championing women and is,

“always innovating and ideating in all spheres of the business to continue to put our customer at the center of all we do.”

The statement reportedly read,

“As we’ve previously shared, our new brand projection and mission will continue to be our guiding principle. This will lead us into new spaces like reclaiming one of our best marketing and entertainment properties to date and turning it on its head to reflect who we are today. We’re excited to share more later this year.”

Reportedly, the company stepped back from its fashion show in November 2019 around the time of the Victoria’s Secret Angel title being dropped, due to criticism that the brand didn’t embrace models of all sizes and backgrounds.

The annual fashion show was reportedly first held in August 1995, before running 23 more times in the years to follow — with the exception of 2004.

Pharrell Williams Succeeds Virgil Abloh As Louis Vuitton’s Next Men’s Creative Director

Congratulations are in order for Pharrell Williams!

The Grammy award winning singer was just recently announced as the next Creative Director of famed fashion brand Louis Vuitton’s mens line. The position was previously held by fashion icon Virgil Abloh prior to his tragic passing back in 2021.

This week, Louis Vuitton jointly announced with the 49-year-old that he’d be taking on the role. Via an instagram announcement posted to both parties official instagram pages, the fashion brand wrote:

“Louis Vuitton is delighted to welcome Pharrell Williams as its new Men’s Creative Director. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be revealed next June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.

Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years. The way in which he breaks boundaries across the various worlds he explores, aligns with Louis Vuitton’s status as a Cultural Maison, reinforcing its values of innovation, pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship.”

With Chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari adding:

“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”

The post is currently the only one on Pharrell’s page now, seemingly wiping his slate clean for the new opportunity. As previously stated, Virgil Abloh, owner of popular fashion brand Off-White, long held the coveted Louis Vuitton position. Reportedly, the brand brought on Abloh in 2018 who achieved much success during his rise to stardom. However, after a private battle with cancer, Abloh shockingly passed away at the age of 41, leaving his strong imprint on the fashion world behind.

As far as Williams goes, reports state the singer is no stranger to the industry. The “Happy” artist has reportedly had some footing in the fashion realm since the early 2000’s. In 2015, the musician reportedly won the Fashion Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Collecting accolades and collaborating with fashion greats such as former Louis Vuitton CD Marc Jacobs, it’s no wonder Williams received the job.

Though Pharrell has not spoken publicly about the new position yet, during a 2019 interview the musician talked about his love for fashion, stating:

“When you listen to yourself and you’re comfortable in who you are, you wear what you feel like fits and looks right on you. And that’s it.”

Ron Dyce Debuts His Latest Shoe Line at This Year’s New York Fashion Week

56% of Fashion executives are not optimistic about 2023 in fashion, and many fashion houses are expected to slow down on showcasing their collections. A rising star in the fashion world, Ron Dyce Collections is set to produce his first ever highly anticipated show at this year’s New York Fashion Week (NYFW). The designer of the patented 24 karat gold leather bottoms will be showcasing a combination of collections on February 12th in his solo runway show.

America’s Next Top Model Bianca Gold will be the show’s red carpet host with a special appearance by Love and Hip Hop star Bambi who will grace the catwalk in her official return to the fashion world.

In celebration of the 50th year of hip hop, designer Ron Dyce has invited legendary DJ Mister CEE to provide some of his classic dj mixes on the 1’s and 2’s for the official afterparty.

After having a successful year with his designs modeled in magazines such as Glamour and Harper Bazaar, Ron Dyce will be debuting his “Ultimate Collection” during New York Fashion Week in Brooklyn. The show will be co-hosted by Bianca Golden of America’s Next Top Model and industry producer Ray DeJON. Ron Dyce has enlisted the aesthetics of celebrity stylist, Yachi who will be curating the collection to bring the designer’s vision to life.

This is Ron Dyce’s first solo NYFW show. He is expected to debut spring, summer, fall & winter during NYC Fashion Week, making Dyce one of the only designers to present all collections at one show. According to the event details, Ron Dyce is expected to debut a record number of 50+ looks during a high-end luxury show. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the designer behind the Gold bottom heel that is rivaling Louboutin’s red bottoms. The show is ideal for those seeking to elevate personal style by wearing Black-owned high-end luxury designers.

While Ron Dyce has presented streetwear designs in past runway shows, this solo show introduces NYFW to the many styles of Ron Dyce. “This is more than producing a show for Ron Dyce. This is putting a year’s worth of designs in front of prospective buyers and influencers who may be familiar with his work from past shows. We get the opportunity to give him the platform to present his luxury pieces.

In a recent poll taken by Business of Fashion (BoF), Fashion executives do not believe the current conditions of fashion will evolve. This leaves an opportunity for new and emerging independent brands to showcase their unique collections.

Those planning to attend New York Fashion Week can access tickets to Ron Dyce “Ultimate Collection” show using the designer’s official link.

Ronald Dyson was born in Brooklyn, New York, where he spent most of his childhood years. Enjoying many hobbies such as drawing was right at the top of the list, and is where he became an exceptional artist. In his early teenage years, he moved to Virginia where he studied agriculture. In the mid-90s he moved back to NewYork where he discovered his passion for fashion while starting his own construction company.

Ronald’s niche for fashion was inspired by his New York roots and his travels throughout the world. Ronald’s greatest influence was from his father, with his sharp style from his tailor-made clothes and custom suits.

Nearly 3 decades later Ron Dyce Collections was born in 2019, where he combines some of the finest and most luxurious fabrics that all come to appreciate. Ron Dyce is defining Luxury and Elegance as he incorporated modern, future, and timeless style into every piece, from his patented 24 karate Gold leather soles to every women’s shoe to the sharp lapel of his silk blazers. Balenciaga Designer Finally Apologizes For Child BDSM Ad Scandal

Balenciaga’s controversial creative director Demna is finally addressing the the BDSM ad scandal.

The fashion designer took to Instagram on Friday (Dec. 2) to issue an apology, promising to “engage with child protection organizations.” In a lengthy statement, he wrote:

“I want to personally apologize for the wrong artistic choice of concept for the gifting campaign with the kids and I take my responsibility. It was inappropriate to have kids promote objects that had nothing to do with them.”

Demna continued,

“As much as I would sometimes like to provoke a thought through my work, I would NEVER have an intention to do that with such an awful subject as child abuse that I condemn. Period. I need to learn from this, listen and engage with child protection organizations to know how I can contribute and help on this terrible subject.”

Demna

He concluded,

“I apologize to anyone offended by the visuals and Balenciaga has guaranteed that adequate measures will be taken not only to avoid similar mistakes in the future but also to take accountability in protecting child welfare in every way we can.”

As you may already know, the luxury fashion house is in the hot seat for running a now-pulled ad campaign that featured minors holding teddy bears dressed in BDSM bondage. Reportedly, the controversial holiday ad also featured what appeared to be legal documents from a Supreme Court case that ruled on federal laws regarding child pornography.

Demna’s apology comes after fashion designers blamed the mogul for failing to take responsibility for the scandal. Olga Liriano, who has spent years in the fashion industry as a model booker, photo director and top magazine editor, said it is ridiculous to think Demna and the top echelon at Balenciaga didn’t know what the campaigns were going to look like once they were photographed. (The teddy bear ad was shot by Gabriele Galimberti, who has said he was told the theme was “punk.”)

Balenciaga has since apologized for their actions. In a statement released Monday (Nov. 28), Balenciaga claimed that graphics posted under its name were not authorized by the corporation. According to reports, the fashion label has filed a $25 million lawsuit against the production company reportedly behind the concerning images.

Balenciaga said,

“We apologize for displaying unsettling documents in our campaign. We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our Spring 23 campaign photoshoot.”

Addressing the advertisement, Balenciaga noted that:

“The first campaign, the gift collection campaign, featured children with plush bear bags dressed in what some have labelled BDSM-inspired outfits. Our plush bear bags and the gift collection should not have been featured with children. This was a wrong choice by Balenciaga, combined with our failure in assessing and validating images. The responsibility for this lies with Balenciaga alone.”

It added,

“The second, separate campaign for spring 2023, which was meant to replicate a business office environment, included a photo with a page in the background from a supreme court ruling ‘united states v. Williams’ 2008 which confirms as illegal and not protected by freedom of speech the promotion of child pornography. All the items included in this shooting were provided by third parties that confirmed in writing that these props were fake office documents. They turned out to be real legal papers most likely coming from the filming of a television drama. The inclusion of these unapproved documents was the result of reckless negligence for which Balenciaga has filed a complaint. We take full accountability for our lack of oversight and control of the documents in the background and we could have done things differently.”

Virgil Abloh Scholarship Fund Established for Black British Student In Creative & Design Industries

Virgil Abloh continues to make a difference across the fashion industry, even in the after-life.

The late fashion designer is being remembered by the Royal College of Art (RCA) with a scholarship fund for underrepresented groups in the creative and design industries.

Each year, an exceptionally bright, Black British student who faces financial hardship will receive the RCA Virgil Abloh Scholarship.

Virgil Abloh founded Off-White in addition to serving as the menswear artistic director for Louis Vuitton. Prior to his passing, he had a strong bond with the RCA because he had joined as an honorary visiting professor in the organization’s first year.

Funding for the £35,000 ($40,404 USD) scholarship came from an unnamed American donor. It will pay the entire tuition for all postgraduate courses in the School of Design, including those in fashion, textiles, and design-related products. The typical tuition for these programs ranges from £14,175 to £33,200 ($16,369.29 to $38,339.36 USD). Additionally, the grant offers networking possibilities and industrial exposure.

Shannon Abloh, the late designer’s wife, commented on the scholarship:

“Over the years, the RCA and Virgil formed a beautiful relationship based on a shared appreciation of collaboration, creative vision, and of course, education. We know that the RCA Virgil Abloh scholarship will break down financial barriers to fulfilling creative potential and empower talented young individuals to dream even bigger.”

Virgil Abloh was a fervent supporter of equality in learning and education. In 2020, he pledged over $1 million to the Virgil Abloh™? “Post-Modern” scholarship fund, offering scholarships and job opportunities for Black students in America.

In an online post at the time, he said,

“Systemic change starts at the grassroots level, from the collective efforts of people taking action and lifting up their own communities. I’m committed to helping ensure that this social revolution is not just a moment but a movement – and I am holding myself to task.”

Abloh died in November 2021 after secretly battling cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, for more than two years.

Since then, he has been remembered with a range of tributes, including songs, fashion shows, murals, and, of course, scholarships.

Update: British Vogue Editor-In-Chief Edward Enninful Shuts Down Claims That He’s After Anna Wintour’s Position At American Vogue: Let’s Quell That Rumor

Update: (Oct. 25, 2022): British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful has made it clear that, despite what many may think, he’s not gunning for American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour’s job.

According to reports, Enninful had a heart-to-heart with Wintour during Paris Fashion Week and told her that he didn’t want her job amid rumors of her impending departure as the editor of American Vogue. During a recent interview, when asked if he could see himself in Wintour’s position should she leave the elite fashion company, he said:

“Everyone focuses on American Vogue. Everybody wants to know what I’m doing, but I would like to tell you that I don’t want Anna’s job. I’ve spoken to her about it a few weeks ago.”

Enninful, who made history by becoming the first Black editor-in-chief of Vogue, followed up with:

“Having been on my book tour where I met so many people in the world, met so many women, met so many minorities essentially, I can do better in the world than maybe I can in one magazine.”

He recently released his biography entitled ‘A Visible Man.’

When asked what would he say if he was offered the prestigious position, he replied:

“I would say not right now, not today.”

Enninful noted that he’s realized that his “strength is in creativity” and in the future, he just wants to be creative. He also shared that he informed Wintour during their Paris Fashion Week conversation that he’s not interested in filling her shoes and she’s “fine” with that. He added:

“Let’s quell that rumor right there”

Original Story: (Oct. 4, 2022): Tension seems to be brewing in the Vogue fashion world.

According to reports, American Vogue Editor & Chief Anna Wintour is less than happy with the efforts of her British counterpart Edward Enniful. Reportedly, Enniful’s campaign to make the “fashion bible” magazine appeal more to men has been met with increasing skepticism, including by Wintour. Additionally, rumors that Enniful could eventually take over Wintour’s position at American Vogue have also been a source of tension, sources have said.

Anna Wintour, Edward Enniful

Reportedly, a subtle beef between the Vogue editors was noticed while both attended Victoria Beckham’s fashion show this past Friday (September 30th). Following the fashion event, alleged details of problems behind the scenes at Vogue reportedly began to seep out. Reportedly, Wintour is not pleased about being considered for a successor just yet. The fashion icon has headed American Vogue since 1988, solidifying the brand as a traditional women based outlet.

Reportedly, the Ghanian British Vogue E&C struck a nerve when he opted to have the first man ever to solo cover the British magazine. The move apparently signified Enniful’s determination to diversify the magazine, after allegedly previously stating the office had:

“too many old white posh women”

The first openly Black gay man to hold the E&F title at Vogue shook the table when he chose British actor Timothee Chalamet to grace the September issue. Reports state the he also has plans to expand the brands audience much further.

A source close to the matter stated:

“He wants to appeal to everyone, not just women….To him, the future is a genderless, multicultural Vogue that appeals to everyone and excludes no one. Gay men have always bought the magazine but he wants to attract everyone and reach out to an audience who would not traditionally buy a women’s fashion magazine.”

Edward Enniful

However it seems Enniful’s ambitious goals are being met with some resistance. Despite this, he’s reportedly in top consideration to take over Wintour’s job as Editor-in-chief of American Vogue and Global Chief Content Officer of the magazine’s publisher, Conde Nast. Reportedly, Enniful feels he’s the natural successor serving previously as Wintour’s protege.

Anna Wintour

The report claims the Wintour may be moving to sway him from the coveted role, however. One article reporting on the matter reads:

“Wintour may try to ‘appease’ Enniful, who has spent recent weeks on a book tour promoting his memoir, A Visible Man, by maneuvering him into another coveted position, perhaps the editorship of an alternative magazine in the Conde Nast stable, to protect her own job. ‘Anna is no fool, so people expect there to be musical chairs soon,’ said one source.”

Edward Enniful, Anna Wintour

Neither Wintour nor Enniful have spoken publicly about the matter. Though after being once asked if he desired to take on the American Vogue E&F position, Enniful reportedly responded:

“I’m happy working in Europe….But you never know what the future holds.”

Kanye West Receives A List Of Restrictions For His Yeezy Trademark After Terminating Partnership With Gap: I Guess the War’s Not Over

Kanye West’s collaboration with Gap may be over, but the business behind the scenes doesn’t seem to be!

Yesterday (Sept. 18), Kanye West took to his Instagram to share a ‘Summary of Restrictions’ letter that he allegedly received, citing guidelines that he was ordered to follow. The informational note outlined certain terms that prohibited the usage of the Yeezy trademark under his previous agreements with popular apparel companies Adidas and Gap.

“Neither Yeezy nor Ye may use, wear, sponsor, promote, market, advertise, endorse, design, manufacture, license, sell or provide consulting services with respect to any of the following products under the Yeezy Trademarks or Ye’s likeness or any other identifiable attribute, feature or indica of Ye (e.g., Donda, Pablo or Jesus Walks).”

Kanye West also continued with a post naming Adidas’ Board of Directors. In the caption, he alleged that one of the board members kicked against his desire to do a fashion show for his brand.

If you didn’t know, the “Donda” rapper recently called out both enterprises for seemingly failing to hold up their end of the bargain in both partnerships. Towards the end of last month, West blasted Gap for excluding him from meetings, and he reportedly accused the corporation of failing to live up to its promise of opening stores exclusive to his products.

Kanye West

The 45-year-old said in an interview:

“It’s time for me to go it alone… I made the companies money. The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever. Like the round jacket, the foam runner, the slides that have changed the shoe industry. Now it’s time for Ye to make the new industry. No more companies standing in between me and the audience.”

Just a little over a week ago, Kanye West also accused Adidas’ Senior Vice President Daniel Cherry of trying to sell knock-off Yeezys and buy him out for $1 billion.

In an Instagram post, he wrote:

“Here is the through line. Gap having meetings about me without me Adidas releasing old shoes and coloring my shoes like I’m dead me not having a say on where my children go to school. Call me whatever names you want If you don’t understand why I will not back down on my businesses my brand and my children then you’re the ones who are crazy.”

However, earlier today (Sept. 19), West took to his account (again) and indicated that the restrictions had been lifted.
